Monday Biotech Deal Review: July 19, 2010

Lots of deals this week. Some good news, some bad news. On the good news front, a steady volume of securities and M&A activity is continuing through the summer; and one Canadian firm benefits from the U.S. Defense Departments exploration of RNAi products as anti-virals. On the other hand front, though, a licensing option expired, a liquidation proceeded and marketing rights were voluntarily surrendered. See who’s who after the jump…

B&W_BigNickelThis week’s Canadian biotech roundup features a dose of all kinds of deals, though common shares appear to be figuring more prominently lately than they were earlier in 2009.  Lots of multijurisdictional activity too, with the U.S., the UK and Germany all participating in this week’s transactions. Other notable cross-border developments include the acquisition of IMS Health by CPP (and TPG), and Agrium’s continuing play for CF Industries.  Keep reading after the jump…

Monday Deal Review: August 3, 2009

B&W_BigNickelHopefully, the Deal Review will be a longer list as the newly-launched Ontario Emerging Technologies Fund starts deploying some capital, but for this week, the Canadian deal front was pretty quiet.   A few developments, like the JLL-Patheon pathos and the milestone for Cardiome from Merck, were noted at the time in our Twitter stream @crossborderbio, and aside from that there are only a few deals, and a bit of bad news, to check out  after the jump…

Monday Deal Review: July 12, 2009

B&W_BigNickelThe highlights of this week were definitely the Bioniche-Endo deal and Allostera’s $17 million raise, but that was just the tip of the iceberg as Canadian deal activity heated up along with the weather.  A novel deal with an income trust swapping cash for a biotech’s public shell starts things off after the jump…

Monday Deal Review: May 11, 2009

bignickel1Check out the latest Patheon-JLL developments, a licensing deal that looks like a subcontracting arrangement, a plan of arrangement M&A that looks like a license, and the rest of the Canadian deal info from this past week after the jump…
